ASM Claim 2 Classified Finishes and a Class Podium at Willhire 24hr [thank you PJCherry for this great photo!]

ASM Claim 2 Classified Finishes and a Class Podium at Willhire 24hr [thank you PJCherry for this great photo!]ASM today recorded 2 classified finishes and a podium 3rd place in the GT3 RS class of the Willhire 24 hour race at Silverstone. An axle rebuild on car 6 and an engine pulley rebuild on car 4 robbed both cars of about 3 hours of racing in what was otherwise a superb and seamless exhibition of the previously untested staying power of the Falcons.

"The cars handled extremely well and the engines gave us no problem at all" said team boss Adam Sharpe. "We know now that we have an endurance car that we can develop much further for similar events next season."

The team had the benefit of a trio of Dawsons working on the cars. Craig - who also drove car 6 - was Chief Engineer; brother Giles was #1 mechanic; and father Andy was an invaluable engineering consultant. "Andy also rebuilt the rear axle and re-engineered the engine pulleys" said Sharpe "so he was a bit more hands-on than you'd usually expect a consultant to be!!"

Sharpe's old friend, engineer Adam Coombes, was also a team stalwart, having almost lived in the garage with the car for the month before the race. "It was great experience" he said "and it'll all be rerun next weekend!" This was a reference to Adam Sharpe's 21st birthday party - he'll be 21 tomorrow.

A positive last word came from race winner Martin Short who told the ASM team how impressed he had been at observing the Falcons' handling in corners, saying they were "very impressive on the corners - especially Luffield". Thanks, Shorty - see you next year!
