The Tsunami Appeal Ball At The NEC
**from DailySportsCar.com**We’ve seen the power of e-bay with the auction of Nic Minassian’s helmet, in aid of the victims in Asia.
Thanks to Adam Sharpe (left) and Bill Binnie, here’s an opportunity to bid for something rather different.
At Le Mans 2004, DSC’s Graham Goodwin tracked down many of the top drivers, who signed a football – the idea being that the ball would be presented to Adam Sharpe who, in 2004, was the youngest ever British Le Mans finisher, at just 19 years of age. Six months on the team at Adam Sharpe Motorsport feels it to be an opportune time for this prized article to be sold in aid of a charitable cause, the Tsunami Disaster Fund. That task is now with us, but there’s more to this item than a football.
Binnie Motorsports and Adam Sharpe Motorsport have agreed to add to the ‘pot’ by offering access to Adam Sharpe, the new Lola team and all of their ‘off the race track’ activities, at all of the LMES events.
So the e-bay ‘lot’ is the signed football, plus a close association with this new prototype team, at all the major European ACO-regs events in 2005. Enjoy the team’s hospitality and company at Spa, the Nurburgring, Monza and Silverstone (or as many as can be attended), plus Le Mans. Meet the drivers, meet the crew and really feel part of a top-line team as they tackle the challenges of endurance racing in 2005.
This is a once only offer – with the top bid going to a very good cause.
This offer was launched at the Autosport Show this week – with the Binnie/Sharpe pair being interviewed on stage by John Hindhaugh, in the company of Lola’s Martin Birrane.
The ball was signed by
- all the Audi Sport UK / Team Veloqx drivers
- Tom Kristensen, Seiji Ara and Dindo Capello
- all the TVR drivers
- all the Morgan drivers
- all the Rollcentre drivers
- all the PK Sport drivers.
** Late Flash: The football raised £500 for the Tsunami Relief Fund. Well done Adam Sharpe – well done Speedchef!
