Mixed Fortunes for Sharpe at Castle Combe
After a confusing first race on Saturday at Castle Combe, Sharpe bounced back to claim a second place podium finish on Sunday in a race that started in brilliant sunshine and ended in torrential rain.Partnered by Tech 9 team boss, Phil Hindley, in regular co-driver Jonathan Rowland's temporary absence and fresh from his Le Mans debut finish, Sharpe was in good form, handling some of the more frustrating aspects of the weekend with good humour.
Id got my sights well fixed on Broster in the 70 Porsche and we were having a good scrap mid-way through the race when his car cut across me and knocked me into a spin. I can only think Id unnerved him in the previous few laps!
The second race ran much more smoothly than the first with Sharpe starting from P4 in class and handing over to Hindley at P2.
It was good to be able to hand over to Phil having made some good ground, though we were all quite surprised that the Elise had by this time achieved such a significant lead. The Marcos finally overtook Phil to put us at P3 but the Elise was later disqualified for being underweight so we ended up back in P2 .
The Tech 9 Team came away from Castle Combe still leading the Cup-Class championship and now look forward to proving themselves once again at Oulton Park on 17/18 July.
